WHAT IS WHISTLEBLOWING?
With Legislative Decree No. 24/2023, the EU Directive 2019/1937
on "the protection of persons who report breaches of national or European Union law"
(so-called Whistleblowing discipline) was transposed into Italian law.
It is a discipline aimed at detecting, counteracting and preventing unlawful phenomena,
conduct or prejudicial acts in public and private organisations.
REPORTING WRONGDOING
IN THE WORK CONTEXT:
The aim is to regulate and facilitate the process of reporting violations
of national or EU regulatory provisions, which harm the public interest
or the integrity of the private entity to which a person
has become aware of in his or her work context.
PROTECTION OF PRIVACY:
The application of the legislation and the channels
identified for whistleblowing are only aimed at always
guaranteeing the confidentiality of the whistleblower,
the reported person and the other persons involved
or mentioned in the report, as well as the prohibition
of and protection against any form of retaliation.
